Texture

I began to make swatches exploring the texture of the flower trying to minipulate fabric such as burning tearing and stitching,I also started dying fabric using beetroot and started making littel mockets of sculptural pieces, these pieces are made simply with wax and black polycotton fabric, they are tactile and invite the viewer to touch.

Flowers

After the exploration through religion i came to the conclusion i needed to focus on something much more simple, i brought my project down to one simple thing, a flower, i came to the conclusion of focusing on a flower as it is seen as pure and innocent, my aim now is to record it, i first recorded the piani rose through photography, the texture and colour gained my interest, as they decay they turn crisp and fragile.

Religion

Movement, This week i was looking at religion as a movement, this stemmed from the idea of an action creating a reaction, this lead to the idea of St.Veronica giving Jesus a cloth to wipe his face while he carried his cross, the image of his face remained on that cloth, this lead to my research in iconic and religious images, i started to think of the effects of religion on society , like war , terrorism pain, rules restrictions, sins and how good and bad are intertwined.I looked at religious gestures and anotomy also. furthermore i looked at destressing paper due to motions of anger such as scrunching and ripping paper.
I looked at flowers and asked does everything have a soul? I looked at images that were powerful and conveyed the pain and suffering of war due to religion, i started to look at innocents and innocents lost,i began to think of the poem shodow doll trapped in marraige and thought about creating a wedding dress from images of war hurt, pain caused by religion.
Then i drew myself to the idea of creating a person from the every day "sins" of the students i was going to create a confession box im order to creat this.
